Duke came to us after their owner passed away. He is 6 years old. He was an outdoor dogs that lived in a fenced area his whole life, so we are unsure how he will do in a home long term but he was in a home for a couple of weeks recently and it was reported that he was not destructive, was potty trained, and we know that keeps his kennel very tidy. Duke is unsure how he feels about hard floors so may need work building confidence walking through the house where there is no carpet. He enjoys chewing on antlers and nylabones and will play with stuffy toys. He lived with other dogs in the past, here he is shy and nervous with new dogs but has not shown aggression. Duke is definitely timid with people at first but extremely sweet. He seems to attach strongly to one person and especially likes females. Duke will need a home with only older children as he did get guards/possesive of the mother in the home when adopted recently and would nip at the toddlers when they tried to cuddle mom. He apparently just doesn't want to share the love, so older children that understand how to read dog body language a little or no kids at all he would be fine with also. Although he was an outdoor dogs prior to coming to us, he has very much become accustomed to indoor, climate controlled, comfy living and we hope to find an indoor home for him where he can live side by side with his humans and finally live a good boys life like he deserves. We are not going to rule out indoor/outdoor or farm homes and will consider all inquiries. If Duke sounds like a good fit for you, please fill out the application on our website underdogsalvation.com
